The greatest promise - I AM, with you

Martha Olawale

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand…. For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 4110,13

My mother ran her race with Christ; now I’m running mine with Him. While I do not doubt that she loved me, I know she could not be everywhere with me, even when she was here. Because of the visibility limitations of our humanity, her presence was constrained by time and space.

Despite the different technologies that can bring people closer now, many limitations remain. While they can enhance physical proximity, they lack the ability to reach and touch internal disconnections. The bottom line, no human can promise to “always be with you” because it is both physically and mentally impossible. And while my dying words to my children can be “I will be with you,” it’s impossible to honor that.

My mother is no longer here, but she left me with the greatest gift any parent can give their children-the joy of God’s presence. I love my children and will do anything within the law and my power to make life easy for them. However, my expression of love has limitations, and I’m passing along to them what my mum gave to me.

I can promise them money, attention, and their favorite dinner every day, but my promise to always be with them is more emotional than practical. Therefore, my greatest joy is seeing my children follow God. As they walk with Him, I know His presence guarantees a light along their path.

The treasure of God’s presence supersedes anything the world offers. The glory of Him outshines the sun, and His love shields all hate. When we walk conscious of God’s presence, every burden feels lighter and all opposition inconsequential. God doesn’t promise, “I will always look from afar,” He promises, “I AM with you!” He is “The I AM,” and regardless of what we walk through or the weight we bear, He never leaves nor forsakes us.

If you are a child of God, pause to soak this promise. The great I AM is with you! A promise sealed by your father, no matter where you go or what stands before or behind you.
