Until we sit with Jesus

The appearance of Jesus to two of the disciples as they walked to Emmaus paints a picture of what it’s like to walk with Him. Although He doesn’t physically appear at all times because He’s omnipresent, He remains faithful to the end. Baffled by Jesus’s question of why they were sad, Cleopas described Christ, “who is” right there with them, as one “who was” not there.

Come boldly, not carelessly

God has been dealing with me on holiness for a while. Although I’ve been a Christian since I was fifteen and made God’s grace my blanket, the stirring in my soul leaves me asking, “Does grace erase my need for holiness?” Also, “Did Christ’s death reduce God’s love for righteousness?”

Unconditionally Christ’s

The best hour of my life was that afternoon when I placed my hands in the waiting hands of Jesus. Although my young heart had to weave through many curves to reach that point, it received grace from Calvary’s stream. Since then, life has had meaning, and despite the many hurdles of each day, I’m unrelentingly loved.

Journey through the waiting road

I recently went through a long, winding waiting road. One thing is for sure: it’s not fun walking it. The waiting road is always cloudy, and you can’t see what’s before you, so even if you only need one more step to reach its end, the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel is blurry.

An undivided heart

Give me an undivided heart? How can I have an undivided heart in a world of many daily choices? As I read this verse in Psalm, I paused and pondered it for a while. God is not kidding or willing to share my heart with anything or anyone; He wants all of it.

Don't just say it, live it

Don’t just talk the talk; walk the walk. This is not directly from the scriptures but speaks from the heart of James 1:22, which says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” If you can’t talk yourself into walking barefoot on a beach in Aruba when you are sitting in a house in Montana, you most definitely...

Growing in grace to say ‘NO’

There is more focus on the idea of ‘yes’ in Christendom than ‘no.’ Messages and books teach us to say yes to God and the needs in the Church without teaching us that to say yes to God’s call over your life and live fully in it, you have to say no to some things. Although all things seem right to jump into if they have a Church or God tag on them, it doesn’t mean they are not wrong for you.

God uses broken people, but…

As a Church, we must not allow ourselves to be complacent in our sins under the guise of acceptable brokenness. Instead, we should be encouraging one another to seek God and repent of them. I, too, am guilty of this, finding solace in hiding my faults under the umbrella of my imperfections.

Because of one man

I was praying for a ministry largely instrumental to my Christian growth in college recently because they were facing some massive challenges caused by sin. With my heart overwhelmed by the situation, I could only ask God for mercy and restoration, for His name's sake. The reminder that one man's sin caused the dilemma jolted my spirit and made me sad.

Let Jesus make you

Think for just a minute and list in your mind’s eye the number of people who have risen to stardom, loved by millions, praised by nations, and fallen from their lofty heights. At some point in their lives, they feel on top of the world, untouchable and unmovable. It’s like the universe is at their beck and call because of the possessions gained through …

The hands of Jesus

Holding hands is one of my husband’s and I’s favorite things because it got us through different seasons of life. I had the opportunity to teach the value of it to my daughter recently when she pulled her hands away as I tried to hold her. I’ve always loved her tiny hands on mine and knew we had to have one of our little talks.

Treasured error

One of the most exciting things I experienced in 2024 was holding “A Million Miles with Jesus” and “Unconditionally Christ’s” in my hands. It’s one thing for God to promise and another for us to live to see it. We bought our family’s copies the day they were published, but they were hidden immediately because it’s one of the Christmas surprises for the kids.

Christmas: The Gift of Salvation

Getting gifts is pretty awesome. When we get that specific something we want, it makes us feel all giddy and special inside. Birthdays are one of the major noteworthy times when we may get gifts. One of my favorite birthday gifts is this music box with a mini snow globe and hourglass on top of it that my parents got me. I love this gift because it’s unique and personal; my parents know I like weird and unusual things.

Promise Fulfilled: “I see a book!”

It doesn't matter what you think about Jesus; one thing is sure: He is faithful, and what He says, He'll bring to past (Isaiah 46:11). The road to publishing “A Million Miles with Jesus” and “Unconditionally Christ’s” was not easy. I took many detours and failed each time. Still, God is always faithful to His promises to uphold the weary hands and encourage a heart willing to honor Him. These books testify to God's faithfulness, and His graciousness humbles me.

How is that working out for you?

Thinking through a simple scenario. Two extremely thirsty men came across a well but could only draw from it one at a time. The first man went to the well and pulled his cup of refreshing water, quenching his thirst. He went to his friend excitedly, telling him about his satisfaction after drinking water from the well.

Thanksgiving: for another day

The saddest place a person can be is a place void of God. A place where the vitality of the work of redemption accomplished on the cross at Calvary has eluded the mind. A place saturated with the presence of self instead of the dominance of the Holy Spirit.

To live like Christ: Jesus is Jesus

I grew up eating only organic food because the world around me was not as industrialized as it is now. It’s been years since then, and I still have difficulty adjusting to non-organic food tastes. While in terms of food, God has blessed humanity with the wisdom to maximize our available resources to combat hunger, I still like organic better because my mouth has tasted its goodness.

If you are reading me

Positive thinking is an idea filtered through the lens of mankind. It emphasizes the ability to believe and speak your beliefs into existence. Although it tries to mirror the positivity of the Christian faith, it is nothing like what the Bible teaches. While a positive thinking ideology promotes following one's heart…

You can’t blame God

My life has certainly not always been a bed of roses, but neither has the life of anyone I know. I’ve not always made the right choices, and I don’t know anyone who has either. You work through Earth’s roads, toiling to make ends meet, and you dare not blink; otherwise, you might lose it all.

Cautious grace

We enjoy honey from bees, but bees also sting. Also, water is a source of life, but it can also take life, and fire is necessary for human sustenance and can also destroy. We cook and even warm our homes with fire, but we know not to stick our fingers in it; otherwise, it will burn them.
